Richa received her Ph.D. in Archaeology from Deccan College, Pune, India. Her doctoral and post-doctoral research investigated the formation processes of the prehistoric record in the Hunsgi and Baichbal basins in the state of Karnataka, India. Her research interests also include historiography and histories of archaeology, specially in the Indian princely states in colonial India.

Richa has taught courses in Archaeology, Cultural Anthropology, and Biological Anthropology.
