Author and journalist Sadiya Ansari joined NESA on March 17 to discuss her memoir, In Exile: Rupture, Reunion, and My Grandmother’s Secret. 

Students read her memoir during class this semester. About 50 students attended, along with faculty from NESA and other departments.

Book summary: Set in India, Pakistan, and Canada, In Exile takes us on a journey as a granddaughter discovers her grandmother’s life, triumphs, and troubles. The story of three generations unfolds through the partition between India and Pakistan and how states become actors in individual’s lives.
