James D. Moore's Latest Book Receives Positive Review

Book Cover

Assistant Professor James Moore's latest book, New Aramaic Papyri from Elephantine in Berlin, received a positive review from historian Amit Gvaryahu of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Gvaryahu praises Moore's collection and study of the documents presented in the book by writing, "The tiny fragments are expertly placed in the context of the letters based on the formulae found in them and Moore’s reconstruction of the way in which they were folded and stored."

James D. Moore is a philologist and social historian of the ancient Near East and ancient Mediterranean. He publishes broadly in ancient Near Eastern studies, has edited hundreds of new Northwest Semitic documents (in Aramaic, Phoenician, and Hebrew), written on ancient Hebrew and Aramaic literatures, and publishes frequently on social history and scribal culture. He advocates for the incorporation of digital resources in the study of languages and culture.
