NELC Associate Professor, Morgan Liu, was recently elected to serve as President of the Central Eurasian Studies Society. He will begin his service as in the presidency this October for three years.  OSU will host the CESS Annual Conference in October 2020.

CESS promotes scholarship on and public interest in the Central Eurasia region (roughly Turkey through Mongolia, including Central Asia, Iran, Afghanistan, Russia, and China).  As President, Dr. Liu wants to encourage different academic disciplines to substantively engage each other to make fuller sense of the region, and to make knowledge of this region also speak to problems beyond it for history and today.
