The NELC Department is proud to announce that on Friday, May 10, Miriam R. Bourgeois defended her dissertation and will graduate with her PhD in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures at the Summer 2019 Commencement on Sunday, August 4.

Miriam's dissertation focuses on '48 Palestinian expressions of resistance in rap and literary works and is titled, "Artistic Resistance in the Holy Land: '48 Palestinian Fiction and Hip-Hop". She was supported in her research and writing by her advisor Dr. Naomi Brenner, and her committee members, Dr. Johanna Sellman, Dr. Ryan Skinner, and Dr. Alexander Kaye.
