Boren Scholarships and Fellowships, an initiative of the National Security Education Program, provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to U.S. interests, and underrepresented in study abroad including: Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East.
OSU is one of the largest producers of Boren Scholars and Fellows, with 3 recipients last year and 6 the year before. It is an amazing opportunity for many different majors to learn languages in counties critical to national security with approx. 20,000/yr. funding for undergrads and up to 24,000/yr. for graduate students.
Many Middle Eastern language students have won in the past.
