NELC 5121: Jewish Aramaic

Provides students grammatical and textual skills to read Jewish post-biblical Aramaic and to introduce them to some of the most important texts written in the language. Introduces grammar of Jewish Aramaic, dialectical differences among the Aramaic of the Dead Sea Scrolls, Palestine, and Jewish Babylonia, and how these differences are reflected in the manuscript and inscriptional evidence.
Prereq: Hebrew 1103, or permission of instructor.
